Bachmann flubs, wishes Elvis happy birthday

Representative Michele Bachmann continued her campaign swing through South Carolina on Tuesday, appearing at a political rally in Spartanburg.

But Bachmann's take on U.S. politics isn't what grabbed most people's attention.  Instead she kicked things off, by wishing Elvis Presley a happy birthday.

"Before we get started, let's all say happy birthday to Elvis Presley today. Happy Birthday!"

August 16th is actually the anniversary of Elvis Presley's death.

Bachmann later corrected herself after a diner stop, telling reporters that even though today is the anniversary of Elvis Presley's passing, he is "still alive, alive in our hearts."

This isn't the first time Michele Bachmann has goofed on the campaign trail.

When she kicked off her campaign in Waterloo last June, in an interview she referred to it as John Wayne's hometown.

The birthplace of John Wayne is actually in Winterset, Iowa.
It was notorious killer John Wayne Gacy who lived in Waterloo for a time.
