Philips recalls nearly 2 million light bulbs

Philips Lighting is voluntarily recalling almost 2 million light bulbs because the glass globe may fall out of the socket.

The recall includes Energy Saver and Marathon Classic Compact Fluorescent Dimmable Reflector lamps made between March 2007 and May 2010. The serial numbers for the recalled bulbs are EL/A R30 Dim 16w (UPC numbers 46677 13 7076 and 46677 15 0419), EL/A R40 Dim 20w (UPC numbers 46677 13 7083 and 46677 15 0426), and the EL/A Par38 Dim 20w (UPC numbers 46677 14 6443 and 46677 15 0433).

The Consumer Products Safety Commission says Philips has receive 700 reports of bulbs that have broken when the glue holding the bulb to the socket has given way. So far, at least two people have been hurt by shattered glass, and there have been three reports of minor property damage.

If you have one of the bulbs you should call Philips at 1-866-622-6372 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET,  Monday through Friday or visit the company's website.
