Three arrested after shots fired in Potosi


Three men were arrested early Thursday morning after sheriff's deputies received a report of shots being fired.

Deputies were called to the 100 block of S. Main Street in Potosi at around 12:35 a.m. Thursday after getting reports of shots being fired.  Witnesses reported hearing three shots and seeing a vehicle drive away from the area and then come back a short time later.

Deputies arrived as the vehicle was about to leave again.

Deputies say that Tanner Gilbert, 19, and Derek Vandlen, 20, both of Juda, Wisconsin, had been drinking but left to return home.  They came back to the home in Potosi to get a piece of clothing they forgot.  They say they found bottles of liquor in the car that was bought for them by Tanner's older brother,Benjamin Gilbert, 21.

Deputies also say that Tanner and Benjamin had fired a 20 gauge shotgun and a .357 revolver into a hillside three times.

Vandlen is charged with underage drinking.

Tanner Gilbert is charged with underage drinking, absolute sobriety, minor transporting intoxicants, open intoxicants in a vehicle and endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon.

Benjamin Gilbert is charged with two counts of providing alcohol to a minor and endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon.
