Honor Flight support from Eagles & Radio Dubuque

Honor Flights are such a worthy cause, but also very expensive. That's why so many turned out for an event Sunday morning at the Dubuque Eagles Lodge.

Hungry residents turned out to support the two upcoming Dubuque Honor Flights. The Eagles Lodge and Radio Dubuque teamed up to raise money for Dubuque Honor Flights September 27 and 28th.  www.HonorFlightDBQ.org.

These kinds of fundraisers are critical to Honor Flight success, because Honor Flights can cost up to a hundred thousand dollars. Radio Dubuque's Mike Baumgartner says having the two flights go back-to-back on Tuesday and Wednesday is a way to help cut those costs.

"With a significant savings, because we are keeping the charter flight here, the Sun Country jet will stay in Dubuque, and turn right around and make the trip the second day. And, it's a ten-thousand dollar savings, Ron. I don't think anybody in the Tri-States would question the importance, or how important our Veterans are to us. And, that's why we're having the turnout we're having today," said Baumgartner.

Many kids and families turned out for this Sunday morning breakfast fundraiser. Dubuque's Honor Flight # 3 is scheduled on the same day as Waterloo's 3rd Honor Flight—Also on September 27th.
