Former Fighting Saint Suter to Hall of Fame

Posted:

Former Dubuque Fighting Saints defenseman Gary Suter has been elected to the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.  Suter is the first USHL alum from the junior era (beginning in 1979) to be elected into the hall.

Suter spent 2 seasons in Dubuque from 1981-83, helping the team win the 1983 Clark Cup Championship.

As a professional, he spent 17 seasons in the NHL and was named the league's rookie of the year in 1986 with the Calgary Flames.  Suter also won the bronze medal as part of the U.S. hockey team in the 2002 Olympic Games.
