UPDATE: Public's help needed in finding van involved in fatal accident

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a van that was reportedly involved in a fatal accident Monday morning.

Deputies were called to the intersection of North Canfield Road and East Cedar Wapsi Road at around 11:00 a.m. for a report of a motorcycle accident.

Deputies say they found Francis Heim, 44, and his wife Tammy, 37, both of Waterloo, laying in the west ditch near the motorcycle.

Francis told deputies that they were southbound on Canfield Road when a white van failed to yield at the intersection.  Heim says he swerved to miss the van, and went into the ditch.  The van did not stop.

The Heims were both taken to Allen Hospital.  Tammy was later transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.  She died from her injuries at about 6:42 p.m.

Deputies are asking anyone that was in the area of the accident at around 10:44 a.m. and saw a White van to call the Black hawk County Sheriff's Investigative Unit at 291-2587 ext. 5123.
