3A State Baseball: Marion shuts out Storm Lake 3-0

The Marion Indians (27-16) knocked off the Storm Lake Tornadoes (26-7) in shutout fashion Tuesday afternoon at Principal Park. Storm Lake was making their third straight state tournament appearance, but saw their title run come to an end with a 3-0 loss.

Designated hitter Byron Fish got the top of the third inning started with a leadoff single for the Indians. He moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Josh Davila. Kasey Semler laced a single to center, putting runners on the corners for Marion. Semler attempted a stolen base of second, and was safe when the Storm Lake catcher's throw sailed into center field. Fish came in to score the first run of the game on the error. Zach Nielson contributed an RBI-single with two outs, and Dusty Albaugh collected his second double of the game to put Marion up 3-0.
