Cy-Hawk trophy to be retired

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- The Cy-Hawk trophy will find a new resting place this fall, and it won't be with the winner of the annual Iowa-Iowa State football game.  The trophy will be moved to the Iowa Hall of Pride in Des Moines as a replacement is being designed for the series.

The Cy-Hawk had been part of the rivalry since its renewal in the 1977 season.

This year, the Iowa Corn Growers' Association has taken over for Hy-Vee as the title sponsor of the Cy-Hawk series, a competition between the Hawkeyes and Cyclones covering many sports.  There's currently no word as to whether or that had any effect on the change for the football trophy as well.
