Police say Hills man attacked family, wielded machete

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says a Hills man attacked his family on Wednesday while wielding a machete.

Todd A. Woodburn, 33, was arrested on Wednesday morning at his parents home in Solon.

Deputies say Woodburn got into a fight with his dad, causing injuries to his arm and wrist which required medical attention, hit his mother in the mouth and spit on her and then pushed his sister, hitting her in the mouth.

Deputies also say Woodburn unsheathed a machete during the fight, but never used it against his family. Woodburn allegedly made comments about killing his parents.

Deputies say Woodburn destroyed his father's cell phone and the home phone to keep them from calling 911.  Witnesses eventually called the sheriff's office.

Woodburn is charged with assault while displaying a weapon, two counts of assault causing bodily injury and obstructing emergency communications.
