IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Police say a registered sex offender was exposing himself at an Iowa City park.

Officers were called to College Green Park at 12:44 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of a man exposing himself.

Police say when they arrived, they found 41-year-old Kelly Lee Wade of Coralville, pulling up his pants.

The criminal complaint filed in Johnson County says that Wade had been in the park for about 30 minutes with his genitals exposed and in sight of other people in the park.

Police say Wade was convicted in 2006 of failing to comply with the sex offender registry.

College Green Park is a public park with playground equipment and is a place that is off limits for registered sex offenders.

Wade is charged with indecent exposure and failure to comply with the sex offender registry.

According to the Iowa Sex Offender Registry, Wade was convicted in Colorado in 2000 for indecent exposure.  The female victim was between the ages of 14 and 17.  It says he was also convicted in Johnson County of indecent exposure in 2007.
