An arrest has been made in a home invasion and sexual assault in Cedar Rapids.

On May 5, police say a man broke into the home of a woman in her 80's on Oakland Road NE across from Daniels Park and robbed and sexually assaulted the woman in the home. Police then say the suspect took the victim's car, which was later found in Hiawatha on May 10.

Cedar Rapids police say an investigation led them to issue a warrant for 21-year-old Darryl Tyson. On Sunday, police in Peoria, Illinois came in contact with Tyson and took him into custody on the warrant issued by the Cedar Rapids Police Department.

Tyson is charged with first degree burglary, first degree robbery, second degree theft and second degree sexual abuse. Police say separate charges are pending from Illinois. The Cedar Rapids Police Department is working to extradite Tyson back to Iowa.
