Pitch, Hit, & Run National Finalist

The pitch, hit and run competition tests kids from all over the county on their ability to throw strikes, hit for distance and accuracy, and how fast they can run. Luke Farley of Denver is one of only three 13-14 year olds in the entire country to make it to Pitch, hit, and run finals in 2011. In 2009 Farley was National Champion in the 11/12 age group and had the privilege of competing at the all star game in St. Louis.

"Got to meet big leaguers and shag balls at the home run derby, meet some hall of famers, sign ball for us" says Luke Farley

Autographs from the likes of Juan Marichal, and Ozzie Smith and Farley was able to meet modern day stars like Josh Hamilton. Now in 2011, Farley has won the local competition in Denver, finished 1st at the sectionals in Davenport which sent him to U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. In Chicago Farley place 1st and was presented the trophy by White Sox pitcher Matt Thornton but it didn't come without a little pressure.

"Even in Davenport that day it came down to the hit and you get 3 tries at the hit and every time it was the third hit that he put the bomb out there so he waited till the end before he finished it" says Luke's father Larry Farley

Earning his family a trip to the All-Star game festivities next week in Phoenix, Arizona. The Farley's will fly down to Phoenix Sunday and Luke will compete at Chase Field for the national Pitch hit and Run championship on Monday.
