Police looking for man who didn't return from work release

An Iowa City man on work release for accidentally killing a woman in 2009 is now considered an escapee.

Officials with the Iowa Department of Corrections say 27-year-old Alajuwon Shamar Johnson was allowed to leave Hope House in Coralville June 13 to find a job.

He hasn't been back.

Johnson is serving a five-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter in Johnson County.

He shot and killed 20-year-old Kylie Perkins in an Iowa city as the two were fighting over a gun when it went off.

His began serving his sentence in May 2010.
