Greene murder suspect pleads to SD charges

Thomas Petersen has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to charges in South Dakota stemming from what authorities say was a high-speed chase.

The 38-year-old is charged with alternate counts of attempted murder and aggravated assault, aggravated eluding and reckless driving.

Peterson is accused of running two sheriff's vehicles off the highway south of Philip in early June, injuring the sheriffs of Jackson and Haakon counties.

Peterson faces a murder charge in the June 4 stabbing death of his wife, 36-year-old Judy, in Greene, Iowa. He has not yet waived extradition.
