CLARKSVILLE (KWWL) -

A former high school football and track coach in eastern Iowa has had his coaching license suspended after inappropriate contact with female students.

Kyle Norton was the head football coach and co-ed track coach in Clarksville from August 3, 2009 through May 10, 2010.

Shortly after his employment in Clarksville, the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners received a complaint alleging Norton had inappropriate contact with students.

The Board says Norton sent numerous text messages to several female students.  The text messages included a comment regarding a student's physical appearance.

The Board also filed charges against Norton alleging he committed student abuse by soliciting, encouraging, or consummating a romantic or otherwise inappropriate relationship with a student.

The Iowa Board of Educational Examiners suspended Norton's coaching license for the next three years.

Kyle Norton currently lives in Cedar Falls.
