The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says a West Union Couple was arrested after a drug deal went bad.

Sheriff's deputies and West Union police officers were called to the Westwood Park Apartments at 712 Jefferson Street in West Union around 12:39 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a large disturbance.

When law enforcement arrived, several subjects ran, but two were caught after a short chase.

They arrested 21-year-old Benjamin Jefferson III of West Union, his wife 31-year-old Kathryn Jefferson also of West Union, along with a 17-year-old from Elgin and a 16-year-old Protivin.

According to deputies, the Jefferson's were delivering drugs to the teens.

The teens are charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and were released to their guardians.

Deputies searched the Jefferson residence and found evidence of drug dealing activity including drugs.

They are charged with distribution of controlled substance to a minor.

The Jefferson's two small children were turned over to the Department of Human Services, who then turned the children over to family.
