Help a West Union park get new, safe playground equipment

The playground equipment at Clark Park in West Union is falling apart. This city park was built in 1965.

"And some of the structures are still here from 1965. They're no longer safe, and we have some unique playground equipment picked out for this park," said Park & Rec Director Kathy Guyer.

The West Union Park & Recreation Department has been fundraising for new equipment for four years.

Park and Rec Director Kathy Guyer said there's a definite need in the community.

"Right now we have 50 kids within a one block radius of the park and there's really nothing here for them so we want to try and get nice playground equipment for them," she said.

The department applied for a $50,000 grant through the Pepsi Refresh Project.

You can help by logging on and voting up to five times everyday. Just click here to vote.

You can also "power vote" up to ten times a day by using codes on pop caps and packages.

"We've been doing really well, but we just need to keep them voting till midnight June 30th."

If West Union finishes in the top ten on June 30th, the old, unsafe playground equipment will finally be updated and ready for children in the community.
