North Liberty Blues and BBQ festival rescheduled

Organizers of the fifth annual Liberty Centre Blues & BBQ festival are hoping that the July weather is much better than the May weather.

Thunderstorms and damaging winds on May 29 forced organizers to cancel the event.  Now, after weeks of talking with vendors, band members, volunteers and suppliers, the event is rescheduled for Saturday, July 23 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Liberty Centre in North Liberty.

Bands scheduled include Dave Zollo and the Body Electric, Kevin "B.F." Burt & the Instigators, Iowa Blues Hall of Fame inductee Bob Dorr and the Blue Band and the Ellis Kell Band, a Quad Cities band who has shared the stage with musical greats like B.B. King, Robert Cray, Willie Nelson and Etta James.

The free, family-oriented festival will still include kids' games and inflatable rides, a petting zoo, kids' fishing, a barbecue contest, beverage garden and food. Free fireworks begin at 9:45.
