DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Officials with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) say they will not have an initial report for Dubuque officials.

HUD is in town conducting a civil rights compliance review within the city's Department of Housing and Community Development.

Department director David Harris said HUD officials are specifically examining two programs, both of which utilize HUD funding.

"One is a Section 8 program, the other is a Community Development Block Grant program," Harris said. "The reason they look at what we call CDBG is, that's where the authority is vested in us to affirmatively further fair housing."

HUD officials originally told Harris they will relay any preliminary findings and recommendations Friday morning to the city, but now say they will have a written report ready in about six weeks.
