Bond reduced for 2 Linn County residents charged in toddler's death

A judge has reduced bond for two people charged with first-degree murder in the death of a Cedar Rapids toddler.

Eighteen-month-old Kamryn Schlitter died in March 2010 a week after she was found suffering from seizure-like symptoms at a Hiawatha apartment. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Linn County attorney Jerry Vander Sanden says the reason charges weren't filed until now because he was waiting for the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Hiawatha police to complete their investigations.

A criminal complaint shows workers at Marion daycare "Apple Kids, Inc" reported bruising on the todder in the weeks leading up to hear death.

The child's father, Zyriah Schlitter, of Cedar Rapids, and his ex-girlfriend, Amy Parmer, of Hiawatha were charged Tuesday with first-degree murder. Bond was set at $1 million each.
