WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWWL) -
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota will formally announce her candidacy for president Monday in her birthplace of Waterloo.
The announcement will take place at the Snowden House in the Grout Museum District on Monday at 9 a.m.
Last week, Bachmann filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to seek the GOP nomination and she has publicly discussed the filing, but she has yet to make a formal announcement.
Bachmann represents a suburban Minneapolis district and has spent the past several months signaling her interest in running for the White House.
She has traveled to Iowa four times this year to meet with Republican leaders and conservative activists.
Bachmann was born in Waterloo and lived in the area until moving to Minnesota at age 12.
