Two people have been charged in the death of a Hiawatha toddler who died more than a year ago.

Eighteen-month-old Kamryn Schlitter died in March of 2010 from head injuries.

Now, 27-year-old Amy Parmer and 24-year-old Zyriah Schlitter have been charged in connection with Kamryn's death.

Hiawatha Police arrested the two on Tuesday and charged them with first degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death.

Schlitter is the toddler's father and Parmer was in a relationship with him. Kamryn was in their care at the time of her death.

When emergency crews were called to the home last year, they found the Kamryn suffering from seizure-like symptoms.

She was taken to St. Luke's Hospital and later flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Kamryn's death was ruled a homicide last July. The Johnson County Medical Examiner says she died from "Non accidental (inflicted) trauma of the head."
