CDC launches new stop smoking campaign aimed at Dads

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Centers for Disease Control launched a new campaign Fathers Day weekend for dads to quit smoking.

The CDC reports one in four American fathers smoke cigarettes.

Of those, 70 percent say they want to quit.

Studies show support from family is key, which makes Fathers Day weekend, as good a time as any to quit smoking.

"Anytime that you decide on a date, you pick a date that you want to quit, and you set up your support and you increase your chances," Linn County Public Health spokesman Curt Wheeler said.

If you're looking to quit smoking, call the quit-line at 1-800-QUIT-NOW.
