Kids' lemonade stand raises $250+ for Relay for Life

The Black Hawk County Relay for Life begins Friday night at Hawkeye Community College.
The event raises money for the American Cancer Society.

Before it kicks off a couple of kids from Cedar Falls are doing their part to raise money on their own for this worthy cause.
With a little help from their parents these three girls set up a lemonade stand on North Division Street.

They sold cookies and lemonade and made more than $250 just in the first hour.

The young girls say cancer has already touched their lives and they wanted to help out.

"I know lots of people who have cancer or who have passed away from cancer and I just don't want anybody or family or any of them to suffer through that. It's really important to me," said Tehya Tournier.

This group will also being taking part in the Relay for Life.

They will be doing so on "Team Strassburg," named after Cedar Falls teacher Mark Strassburg who has battled Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
