Flooding may keep you waiting longer at railroad crossings

Posted:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Midwest flooding will cause potentially longer delays at intersections in Iowa City and Johnson County communities.

Iowa City officials were notified by Union Pacific Railroad that flooding is requiring the company to reroute up to eight trains per day to the Iowa Interstate Railroad. Officials say the rerouted trains may be longer than the trains that typically operate on this route, causing delays at Scott Boulevard, First Avenue, Greenwood Avenue, 22nd Avenue/Camp Cardinal Boulevard, Deer creek Road, Jasper Avenue, Ireland Avenue, and others.

Pacific strongly encourages people to heed warning devices at railroad crossings and remain alert for additional train traffic during this period.
