DJK's former roommate gets deferred judgement

Brady Cooper Johnson, the former roommate of former Hawkeye wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, was sentenced on drug charges Tuesday in Johnson County.

Johnson pleaded guilty earlier this year to a controlled-substance violation and permitting use of a controlled substance. The charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a prescription drug were dropped.

The judge gave Johnson a deferred judgement, which means if he stays out of trouble, the charges will be cleared from his record.  He also received three years probation and a $650 civil penalty.

Police say marijuana, cocaine, prescription drugs and a large quantity of money was found Dec. 7 at the apartment where Johnson and Johnson-Koulianos lived.

Johnson-Koulianos pleaded guilty to marijuana possession and was granted a deferred judgment and received a year's probation.
