Body recovered from Iowa River in Marshalltown

Officials have recovered the body of a man who apparently drowned while swimming in the Iowa River in Marshalltown.

The Marshalltown Times-Republican is reporting that the body was found in the water by some passers-by around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters recovered the body from the water, and family members later identified it as that of 27-year-old Dawt Cung Nung, of Marshalltown. He had disappeared while swimming on Sunday.

Mark Bethel is deputy medical examiner for Marshall County. He said the body would be taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office to determine the exact cause of death.
