No other cases of measles seen in Iowa

The Iowa Department of Public Health hasn't learned of any new Iowa case of measles since one was reported last week.

The department said that passengers exposed by a central Iowa man on a May 11 airline flight from Chicago to Des Moines have been released from home quarantine. The people exposed at Mercy Central Pediatric Clinic and the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines on May 14 are expected to be released Saturday from home quarantine.

The man's case is being treated as a public health emergency because measles spreads easily and can cause serious illness or even death. Symptoms of the measles include a cough, runny nose, pink eye and fever, and a rash can often develop a day or two later..
