Couple arrested in methamphetamine bust

A Lone Tree couple was arrested, after evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing was found in their home.

The Johnson County Area Drug Task Force went to the home of Ronald and Wendy Whetstine's Thursday morning.

Officials say they found meth-making materials inside the home on Elm Street. They were taken into custody.

Their nine-year-old son was taken into protective custody by the Department of Human Services.

The task force went there to discuss recent pseudo ephedrine purchases and attempted purchases that show up on the new National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLEX) which is a real time pseudo ephedrine tracking system that was implemented in the past year based on recent law changes that allowed Iowa Law Enforcement and retailers to participate. This allows the tracking of purchases of pseudo ephedrine which is a key ingredient to Methamphetamine manufacturing.
