Panther defensive back arrested in Cedar Rapids

UNI Panther defensive back Terrell McBride was arrested early Thursday morning in Cedar Rapids.

According to Cedar Rapids Police, McBride, 22, was stopped in the 1400 block of 1st Avenue East at 12:38 a.m.  The report says that McBride had a taillight that was the wrong color, the license plate light was not working and he had no proof of insurance.  Sgt. Cristy Hamblin says McBride admitted to the officer that he was barred from driving.  Hamblin says he had an Iowa identification card but not a driver's license.

Hamblin says McBride is considered a habitual offender because of his past record.  A check of Iowa Courts Online shows that McBride has faced charges ranging from assault and theft to possession of drug paraphernalia, along with numerous traffic violations.

McBride, a redshirt junior at UNI, was a standout running back at Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School.
