Kerry Burt receives deferred judgment

Former state representative Kerry Burt received a deferred judgment after being found guilty of records tampering back in April.

Burt faced up to two years in prison for each of the four counts of records tampering.

On Tuesday, a Black Hawk County judge sentenced Burt to one year of self probation. After that year, the charges will be wiped from his record on the condition he doesn't violate his probation.

Burt was found guilty of using a Cedar Falls address to allow two of his children to attend the Price Lab school on the UNI campus.
