Small explosion and fire at Cedar Rapids home

Cedar Rapids Firefighters say a "low order" explosion and small fire damaged a house Saturday night.  It happened just after 6 p.m. at a home in the 600 block of 19th Ave. SW. As the neighbors were calling 911, they indicated that they heard an explosion as well.  When firefighters arrived they saw light smoke coming from the kitchen.  They say the side walls in the kitchen and a bathroom window on the rear side of the structure had been blown out by a "low order" explosion.  They say the fire was primarily out before they went inside.  A "low order" explosion describes an explosive event where the blast pressure front moves slowly, displacing objects in its path rather than shattering them.  No-one was home at the time.  A cause is still under investigation
