Iowa airman killed in Afghanistan


The Pentagon says two airmen were killed Thursday after an attack in Afghanistan, one of them from Iowa.

28-year-old Staff Sgt. Joseph J. Hamski of Ottumwa died following wounds suffered from an attack by enemy forces with an explosive device.

32-year-old Tech. Sgt. Kristoffer M. Solesbee of Citrus Heights, Calif. also died from wounds suffered in the attack.

Hamski was assigned to the 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany.

Solesbee was assigned to the 775th Civil Engineer Squadron at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.
