Black Hawk County Gaming Association ends funding suspension


The Black Hawk County Gaming Association Board of Directors has voted to end the suspension of funding awards to come from casino profits from the Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo. The board announced the suspension earlier this year, as a tax increase on Iowa casinos was discussed in the Iowa Legislature.

At the board meeting on Monday, fifteen projects totaling $599,663 were awarded funding. 

  • Boys and Girls Club of Black Hawk County - Evansdale site equipment  $20,000
  • Grout Museum - Voice of Iowa Mobile Video Displays  $57,000
  • Kothe Memorial Library - Parkersburg - Facility Expansion  $25,000
  • People's Comm. Health Clinic - Transport Vehicle  $30,000
  • Evansdale Public Library - Library Furnishings  $15,000
  • Black Hawk County Emergency Mgmt - Outdoor Tornado Siren Radios  $23,224
  • Waterloo Police Department - Forensic Equipment &Polygraph  $30,000
  • George Wyth State Park - Utility Vehicle for soft trails  $6,000
  • City of Gilbertville - Loader Backhoe Replacement  $27,000
  • City of Evansdale - Deerwood Park Phase II  $50,000
  • Clarksville Public Library - Expansion Project  $25,000
  • Allen College - Education Facility Expansion Project  $250,000
  • Dike-New Hartford Community School - Lighting Project  $25,000
  • Butler County Fair-Handicapped Parking & Building Improvements  $9,800
  • Hearst Center for the Arts - Digital Security Equipment  $6,639
