Waterloo elementary library to get free makeover

A Waterloo elementary school will soon be getting a big makeover at its library.  A representative from Lincoln Elementary is in Washington, D.C. to receive a grant worth up to $200,000 from Target and the Heart of America Foundation.  The library makeover grant will provide funding for 2,000 new books, along with some new computers, fresh paint, artwork, carpeting and more.

"We have really been working hard to really make this building a community place, a place where community members, parents, just other community members and kids can really be here and be involved in the school.  And this will really help with that," said Stephanie Mohorne, Lincoln Elementary principal.

Lincoln Elementary is one of just 42 schools across the nation to receive the library makeover grant this year.  The work should get underway late this summer.  Schools were chosen based on the average third grade reading level and the number of students receiving free or reduced lunches.
