Reverend Al Sharpton visits Waterloo

Reverend Al Sharpton visited the Cedar Valley Monday. Sharpton spoke at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Waterloo.

He announced the opening of an Iowa chapter of his National Action Network. Sharpton says he hopes presidential candidates address key issues like education and healthcare. He hopes to help protect working class people.

"To challenge people as they come through Iowa to address the issues of all Americans I think that its important in a non-partisan way that we understand from all people that want to seek office that come through Iowa what their plan is for all Americans," said Sharpton. 

Sharpton also stopped at the University of Northern Iowa "Keeping It Real". He returned to Mount Carmel Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m.
