Day 2: Class 1A and 4A Coed State Track

Thursday's conditions were ideal, then Friday was somewhere on the other end of the spectrum. Two rain delays and there was some question on whether or not the 1A or 4A Classes would even get under way, but they did and there were some great performances tonight.

We'll start with one of the best in the business nationwide...That's Linn Mar's Kyle Dunn in the 400 hurdles, and he wins it for the 3rd straight year. But Dunn falls eight hundredths of a second short of the record

Kyle Dunn said, "Inside lane, a little rainy weather wasn't helping me out, but I was going to come out, shoot for the record, and I knew I could at least get gold."

The Cedar Falls 4x200 relay team coming off a Drake Relays victory, and again, the team of Toyosi, Dowell, Hill, and Harrington finish first. They too, missed the record just barely.

"We didn't get it but that's alright. We got the win, we got the team points, that's what matters the most," said James Harrington.

Hannah Savage of Cedar Falls takes over first on the final 400 of the 4A Distance medley. And the team of Crotty, Whitaker, King, and Savage, best in the state.

"I knew I needed to stay right on her tail. And I knew if I did that there would be enough momentum and adrenaline to take me home because we want this so bad," Hannah Savage said.

Plenty of other area winners...

In the 400 hurdles, Brooke Foreman of Cedar Rapids Washington a State Champion Cedar Rapids Jefferson takes home the gold in the 4x200 Olin's Jordan Cress is best of the 1A high jumpers and  Waterloo West's Jaydn Spencer takes home the 4A shot put title.
