Coed State Track 1A/4A

Connor Smock's quest for 4 straight 3,200 meters titles entered leg number 3 as the Lisbon Junior was focused on maintaining his dominance in the event.

Smock's been a juggernaut in class 1A and that dominance did continue as he took control over the final lap finishing in 9 minutes, 36 seconds for his 3rd straight title in the event.

"It's so cool. It's just really good to be able to go out here, and run against these guys at state. They're all phenomenal," said Smock.

BCLUW was dominant in the 4 by 800, especially senior Jay Welp who anchored them just one second off the class 1A record.

To the discus where Amanda Piche fired it over 141 feet to top the girls 4A field.

Cedar Rapids Prairie picked up a pair of titles as Sam Joens threw is 184 feet for victory in the 4A discus, and Matt Stocker anchored the Prairie Hawks 4 by 800 to victory in 7 minutes, 54 seconds.

''They did their job. Now you've got to do yours by finishing, so the credit goes all to them for winning this race,'' said Stocker.

In the 1A girls 400, Belle Plaine's Emily Toennies blasted to victory in 57.32 seconds, while Linn-Mar's Kyle Dunn ended the day with a new 4A record going under 48 seconds in the 400.

''It feels fantastic. I'm on top of the world right now,'' said Dunn.
