Taking decorating eggs to a new level

A lot of people during Easter time decorate Easter eggs, but one eastern Iowan is taking it to an entirely different level. From Halloween to Easter, Marilyn Miller decorates eggs for all occasions.

"I like to have a variety of things. Nativity scenes, Santa's, angels, I do wedding ones too," said Miller.

This egg inspiration started for Marilyn in 1992 when she and her husband John started raising emus.

"I had seen emu eggs and other eggs done created like this and I had interested in that and when I had birds lay, they had these beautiful green eggs and I of course had to do something with them."

What hatched from that was a passion for creativity which Opened up into a business and Marilyn started selling her work in art shows.

"Many people will come up and look at them and others will think they are plastic."

Drop these and they will break because there's no plastic here. But you wouldn't want to do that because it takes between six and eight hours to make just one.

"It's a slow process. It's not something you say well I'm going to sit down and do an egg now and in an hour I will have it done. No."

Its a process that Marilyn has done nearly about one thousand times, but she says this what she truly enjoys doing.
