Minnesota Twins slugger Killebrew dies at 74

Harmon Killebrew, one of baseball's greatest sluggers died at his Arizona home today. The Minnesota Twins confirmed his passing and said Killebrew who suffered from esophageal cancer died with his family by his side.

Killebrew played 22 years mostly for the Twins and his 573 home runs still rank 11th on baseball's all time list.

His nickname "killer" was a far cry from the quiet and gentle man who avoided the party scene enjoyed by many of his peers. His charitable causes were many and when once asked what he did for fun Killebrew answered "doing the dishes I guess".

Last week Killebrew ended his fight against the disease which doctors told him was futile.
