UPDATE: Server problem blamed for DOT issues

AMES (KWWL) -

The Iowa Department of Transportation says a computer server failure caused a temporary interruption in the issuance of driver's licenses and non-operator identification cards, and provision of vehicle registration services on Tuesday.

It took only a few hours for Iowa DOT personnel to fix the problem.

This equipment outage affected services at all Iowa DOT driver's license stations, and county treasurer offices statewide that issue driver's licenses and handle vehicle registrations.
