Salvation Army food give-away scaled back

The food give-away in Waterloo sponsored by the Salvation Army has gone from five days a week (Monday-Friday) to three days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).

Captain Rob Whitney said that they have had to scale back due a smaller amount of food available overall.

A change in the law prohibits the Salvation Army from giving away dented #10 cans of food which are the kinds of cans that restaurants use.

In order to cover the many programs the Salvation Army has in place, the charity scaled back its food give-away.

The food give-away happens at the 207 Logan Avenue address.

Whitney said that if the quantity of food available increases, the give-away will go back to five days a week.
