WATERLOO (KWWL) -

One Waterloo World War II veteran passed away before he could make the trip aboard the city's inaugural "Honor Flight" to Washington, D.C.

84-year-old Eugene "Dinty" Moore enlisted in the US Navy during WWII.  He died Friday.

Funeral services were held in Waterloo Tuesday morning.  After the service, a procession of Harley Davidson motorcycles, which Moore was a big fan of, accompanied the hearse to the burial site.

Memorials are being directed toward future Waterloo Honor Flights.
