Roughriders knocked out by Green Bay

Posted:

GREEN BAY (KWWL) -- Cedar Rapids breezed through the season with the beset record in the USHL, but their quest for the Clark Cup came to an end with a 3-1 defeat to the Green Bay Gamblers.

The Roughriders fell behind 2-0 in the first period and couldn't recover.  Jean-Paul LaFontaine and David Goodwin provided the early tallies for Green Bay.

Cedar Rapids made a push in the second period which resulted in a goal by Nick Saracino to pull the Roughriders within one.  The team still had a glimmer of hope until Green Bay's Robert Francis drove home the dagger for a 2 goal lead in the final minute.

The defeat gave the Gamblers the series 3-1 over the Anderson Cup Champion Roughriders.
