Identity theft insurance for Sony gamers

Sony has offered Playstation customers up to $1 Million in identity theft insurance. In a letter posted online, Sony's chairman and CEO Howard Stringer apologized for the inconvenience and concern caused by the recent security breach.

Sony says more than 100- million user accounts may have been affected. Names, birth dates, email addresses and log-in information may have been compromised as well as some credit card information. Sony says there's no evidence any of the information has been misused yet.

Sony identified the breach on April 19th but didn't speak publicly about it until April 26th.

Sony says a similar offer for users in other regions is "coming soon."
