A nine hole, mini golf tournament is organized by Lori Price and Becky Wrage as a fundraiser for their Relay for Life team for the American Cancer Society.
"We had another friend, Mary Ellen, and she passed away from cancer and then we started Team M.E. or Team Mary Ellen," said Lori Price.
The ladies recruited establishments in the Cedar Valley to build a mini golf hole. Participants include The Locker Room, Spicoli's, The Screaming Eagle, Steamboat Gardens, The Hoist, Casey's 218, Hoochies, The Winning Edge and Buzz's Bar.
Each year teams sign up to play nine holes...
"And you don't have to be a good golfer," said Becky Wrage.
The teams ride a bus from pub to pub to give their putting a try. This is the sixth year for the Relay for Life fundraiser. So far, more than $25,000 has been raised by Team M.E. to help fight cancer.
"This just shows anybody can help raise money for whatever his or her charity is," said Lori Price.
All the teams are encouraged to have fun...
"Some of their costumes are just awesome. Just hilarious," said Becky Wrage.
But the main message is fighting cancer.
"We don't know of any family that has not been affected by cancer in some way. If it's not a relative then it's a friend," said Price.
About 60 teams signed up for this year's pub putt, but Price and Wrage hope to recruit 90 teams.
They said raising this money for Relay for Life is just one small way they can honor their friend and help in the fight against cancer.
You can still participate in a Pub Putting for Life in Waverly on Saturday, May 14th.
