UPDATE: Police still need public's help in finding sexual assault suspect

Cedar Rapids Police still need your help in finding a man they say sexually assaulted a woman in her 80's and then stole her car.

Police say a black male broke into the woman's residence on Oakland Road NE, across from Daniels Park, at around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and sexually assaulted her.

They say he then stole her car, a white Buick Century, Iowa plates 133HKW.

"Our Investigators are thoroughly working this case. They have received numerous calls and are following up on the leads. But there are people in our community that know the identity of this offender. They know who he is, where he lives and have heard what he has done," said Chief Greg Graham in a written statement. "We want people that have specific knowledge on this case to call in with the information."

Anyone who was in the area of Daniel's Park around 5:00 p.m. Thursday and has any knowledge or saw anything suspicious, is asked to call the Cedar Rapids Police Department at 319-286-5491 or Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (272-7463) with the information.

On October 1, 2009, a similar incident occurred in the 1400 blk. of Center Point Rd NE.  That case is still under investigation.
