Vinton and Toledo restaurants under investigation again

VINTON (KWWL) -

Immigration officials are investigating Chinese restaurants in Vinton and Toledo for the second time.

Local police and agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement were seen at the restaurants and at the owner's home on Fourth Street in Vinton.

Around 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon, employees and owner Chan Duong arrived at the Peony Chinese Restaurant in Vinton. They told KWWL at that time they were still planning to open for business.

About an hour later, around the same time they were supposed to open for dinner, the employees left saying the restaurant would be closed.

ICE is not commenting any further on the matter, saying this is part of an ongoing investigation

This is not the first time the owners of Peony Chinese Restaurant have been involved in an investigation.

In November 2008, immigration officials raided the same restaurants. Owner Phung Ca Long pleaded guilty to hiring illegal immigrants for commercial gain. She owns the restaurants with her husband.

ICE is not commenting any further on the matter, saying this is part of an ongoing investigation.
