HUDSON (KWWL) -

The North Iowa Cedar League conference track meet was held Monday night in Hudson, and Hudson walked away the big winners.

On the girls side, it was a great meet for Holly Hallstead of Hudson. She showed her versatility, speeding her way to the finish line in anchoring the victorious 4x200 relay team.

Then, in the 800 meters, Hallstead showed her strength and endurance pulling away down the stretch to win in a fine time of 2 minutes and 25 seconds.

It was a close finish in the 100-meter hurdles. Denver's Caylee Ott held off Hudson's Marissa Evers to win a good race.

Evers had a good meet, sweeping the 100 and 200-meter sprints. Evers won the 200 in 26.24 seconds.

On the boys side, the Hudson 4x800 meter relay team captured the second annual Ed Thomas traveling trophy.

And the Pirates dominated the meet. Carter Anderson with a strong anchor leg secured Hudson the win in the 4x200 meter relay.

In the 110 hurdles, Royce Pool of Dike-New Hartford edged teammate Mike Weideman in a fine time of 15.02 seconds.

In the 1,600-meter run, NU High's Terry Nielsen was the prohibitive favorite and he showed why, running away from the field for the victory in 4 minutes and 43 seconds.

And in the Boys 200-meter dash, Brian Hawkins of Denver battled Tanner Wright of Hudson to the tape. Hawkins leaned for the win in 22.7 seconds.
