UNI ROTC reacts to Osama bin Laden's death

The world is reacting to the word that Osama bin Laden is dead and that is certainly the case in eastern Iowa.

ROTC or Reserve Officers Training Corps. on the University of Northern Iowa's campus was created to prepare young men and women to become commissioned officers, future leaders of the military.

These men and women remember where they were on 9/11, and say killing Osama bin Laden is a major accomplishment, but there is still work to be done.

"If you were in your yard and you picked a dandelion, and you took that main threat away, there are still a lot of ideas, a lot of seeds he's planted, in the minds of terrorists that could come up to be an uprising," said Christian Albrecht, UNI ROTC.

"It wasn't Osama bin Laden that killed the three Iowans this past month. It was his ideas and his organizations. So, while I'm happy that we found and killed him, I'll be a lot happier when we kill those ideas and organizations," said Ben Ditri, UNI ROTC.
